Functions of Union Parishad

* To maintain law and order and help the administration in this regard.
* To take various measures to prevent crime and smuggling.
* Agriculture, plantation, fishery and livestock health, cottage industries, irrigation, communication.
* Extending family planning activities.
* Promote local resources and ensure its use.
* Protection of public property like roads, bridges, culverts, gaps, canals, telephones, electricity etc.
* To review the development activities of other organizations at the union level and recommend it to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
* Encouraging the people to use health-conscious closet.
* Registration of birth and death, blind, beggar and destitute.
* Manage all types of census.

Providing various certificates including gram council, salis, development, project implementation, government plan and implementation of projects, providing various services, citizen charter, warships, death certificate, safe water supply, conducting education, maintaining law and order, roads and gates, Pool-culverting etc.
